Download and manage project files
Download the material you need while you have a connection. Bridge distinguishes files deliberately saved for offline use from files temporarily cached after opening them.
Download one document
- Open the project, then Documents.
- Touch and hold the document to open its context menu.
- Choose Download.
- Wait for the completed offline status before disconnecting.
A document's details or version view can also offer Download for Offline. Check the version number when saving a historical version.
A downloaded document's context menu can show Remove Download. An active transfer can show Cancel Download.
Download a folder or project
In the project's document browser, open the More menu and its Offline Access options:
- Download this folder saves the current folder.
- Download project saves the project scope, including its subprojects.
The title menu also exposes the current scope's download action where available. Folder rows can offer Download Folder from their context menu.
Saved folder and project scopes can download new files and updates when the app has a connection. On cellular data, starting a folder or project download can show Download Using Cellular Data?.
Understand the status
| Status | What to do |
|---|---|
| Queued | Wait for the transfer to start. |
| Downloading | Keep a connection while the file transfers. |
| Available offline | The stored version can be opened without a connection. |
| Older version available | A previous version is stored; reconnect to obtain the current version. |
| Needs attention | Review the transfer or error before relying on the file offline. |
Your document details can use Downloaded for an available file. The Downloads screen shows transfer progress and batches.
Review device storage
On your Profile, open App Settings, then Downloaded Content under Project Documents.
The list distinguishes:
- Saved Offline: deliberately retained, labeled Kept until removed.
- Automatic Cache: a file cached through ordinary use, with an expiry.
Automatic document caches use a rolling 30-day policy after the last open. Choose an explicit download for work you intend to rely on offline rather than depending on a temporary cache. Current access rules still apply to intentionally retained files.
Use Select to remove chosen local entries, or Remove All for all listed downloaded content. Removing these device copies does not delete the project documents in cloud storage. Project listings and thumbnails can remain on the device.
Removing a folder or project download scope also stops its automatic future downloads. Read the confirmation: a folder may inherit a project-wide download, so its action can be Remove project downloads.
Control cellular refresh
In App Settings → Project Documents, use Refresh Downloads over Cellular to control refreshes for pinned folders and projects when Wi-Fi is unavailable.
Before removing files, confirm that important edits and uploads have finished syncing. See Work offline.
