Work offline on iPhone and iPad

Bridge can keep saved information and supported queued work available on iPhone and iPad without a connection. Prepare the device while you are online: a project listing or thumbnail does not mean the full document has been downloaded.

Before you disconnect

  1. Sign in and select the workspace you need.
  2. Open the projects and other work you expect to use.
  3. Download the documents, folders, or projects you need.
  4. Wait until the files show Available offline or Downloaded.
  5. Open an important file once to check that its content is available.
  6. Check the sync status on Home for pending changes or transfers.

Prepare each device separately. Downloads on your iPhone do not automatically make the same files available offline on your iPad.

While you are offline

You can open authorized information already saved on the device and use supported local editing workflows. Project, inventory, and task changes can be queued for a later connection.

Some actions still need the service. Examples include a new sign-in, downloading a file that is not on the device, and managing project member assignments.

Only the document versions actually stored on the device are available. Older version available means the local file is not the current version known to Bridge.

Save document edits deliberately

For editable project documents, finishing a markup or form-editing session can show Save New Version?. Choose Save Version and complete the save flow to preserve those changes as a new project version.

Depending on the document and the way it was opened, you may instead see Export Annotated Copy, Replace Original, or a read-only view. Do not assume every drawing or form edit is automatically saved to the project.

A locally saved or queued version is not the same as a completed upload. Check it after reconnecting.

When your connection returns

Keep Bridge open long enough to finish the pending work. Sync resumes when a connection is available, but file transfers and updates can take time.

On Home, tap the sync status to view details. Useful labels include:

LabelMeaning
Pending changesLocal changes are waiting to sync.
File transfersUploads or downloads still need to complete.
Needs attentionAn item needs review, such as an access problem, conflict, or failed operation.
Sync delayedBridge could not finish the latest check and will try again.

Review items needing attention rather than assuming every queued action was accepted. The server may reject work if access changed, the target was removed, or a version conflicts with newer work.

Protect work that exists only on this device

Reconnect and check important pending work before signing out, removing local content, or reinstalling Bridge. Do not remove a local copy simply to troubleshoot an upload that has not completed.

Previously saved sessions allow offline startup within their valid lifetime. A new or expired sign-in still needs a connection.

Visual guide planned: download preparation, a saved offline edit, and the Home sync details after reconnection.
