Projects and subprojects

A project brings related work together. Use it for a personal plan, a shared team effort, or an ongoing business project. Subprojects give a larger effort a hierarchy without putting everything into one project.

Before you begin

Sign in to Bridge, choose the workspace you want to work in, and open Projects. You need permission to create or change a project. If the create action is missing, ask a workspace administrator to review your access.

Create a project on the web

  1. Open Projects at /admin/projects.
  2. Choose Create Project.
  3. Enter a Project Name that people will recognize.
  4. Add a type, color, and description when they help distinguish this project from similar work.
  5. Leave Parent Project empty for a top-level project, or choose an existing project to create a subproject.
  6. Choose Create Project to save the project record.
  7. Review the project's access and add the people and roles needed for the work.

The project should appear in the workspace's project list. Open it to reach its documents, tasks, and other available project areas. Available areas depend on workspace settings and your permissions.

Create a project on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Projects.
  2. Open More, then choose Create Project when that action is available.
  3. Complete the project form and choose Create.
  4. Use Continue to access to review access, or Open project to continue into the saved project.

The native app uses its own sheets and menus; the web form and mobile form do not have identical layouts. Check the saved project before continuing with related work.

Organize a larger project

For example, a move could have separate subprojects for preparation, equipment, and the new location. Choose the parent in the project form rather than relying on similar names to suggest a relationship.

On the web, the project hierarchy switcher lets you search related projects and move between the parent and subprojects. On mobile, open the project's subproject list. Check the current project title before adding documents or tasks so the new work lands in the intended project.

Review access when reorganizing work. A useful hierarchy does not replace checking who can open and change each project.

Find an existing project

Use Search projects… on the web. On mobile, browse the Projects list and refresh it when you need the latest available information. Confirm the active workspace before searching for a project that appears to be missing.
